JUNETEENTH Celebration | Proclamation Honoring Isaka Shamsud-Din at City Hall

Wed. June 19th, 2019. Doors open at 5:30pm | Program at 6:00pm

Please join us for a community event featuring the revolutionary art of Isaka Shamsud-Din for a formal celebration of ‘Isaka Shamsud-Din Day’ at Portlands’ City Hall. This event honors one of our cities' most important artists and social justice leaders - we invite you to take part in this historical proclamation. Presentations will be hosted by local musicians with a Q&A by Isaka following. Portland City Hall will also feature an exhibit of Isaka’s images that are featured in the artists’ Juneteenth calendar; in addition to being available for sale on site, you may order your copy online here. The 2019 Juneteenth Calendar was made possible through the support of the following sponsors, as well as many contributions from fundraisers and individual supporters of his art: Harold and Arlene Schnitzer Care Foundation, PNCA, Morel Ink, Don't Shoot Portland and Tiffany Burnette Creative. We look forward to filling the City Hall in the spirit of activism, community and civic engagement.

Food and refreshments will be provided courtesy of local restaurants.

Event is open and free to the public!
