We've Been Planning All Year for This! This Friday, We Say Thank You
We’ve been planning all year long and it’s finally here: Our printmaking event in partnership with Portland Art Museum and Hank Willis Thomas’ ‘All Things Being Equal…’ exhibition will be held on Friday from 3pm-8pm. This important collaboration rose in support of our upcoming annual Reclaim MLK March for 2020 - there have been many dedicated people involved in the curation of this event. The most important partnership of all has been with our community - the support that donors, individuals and organizations have given has been phenomenal and further allows us to share the narratives stemming from our work. From the launch of our legal referral service to our digital archiving events in May and the #MuseumsAreNotNeutral movement and more, 2019 has been made possible through this support and participation, and we thank you. We will be working with some of the incredible talents we’ve met this year to be part of this event’s debut. We encourage you to give them a follow and see how each of these individuals are changing Portland through their mediums of story-telling.

Our roster of community panelists include Kiauna Nelson of Kee’s Loaded, former Olympic boxer Andrei Haynes and more. We will be widening the lens of racial identity and sharing our responses to the emotive works of the Hank Willis Thomas exhibit and how it relates to our hometown of Portland. This will be followed by a short lecture ‘Race, Art & Politics: Focusing on the Commodification of Social Justice’ presented by Teressa Raiford.
We will have Oregon Food Bank onsite gathering food so please come prepared to give in that capacity. Beginning at 3pm, we will be screen-printing and button-making to provide upcoming tools to be used in our MLK March in January.
Following, we will gather in front of the Portland Art Museum to take part in a land acknowledgement in honor of Sam Fast Buffalo Horse before panels begin. Please dress warmly and attend this portion of our evening.
