Rest in Peace: 10 Years of Missing You Andre Dupree Payton
Tomorrow, September 26th, please visit Kee’s Loaded Kitchen in NE Portland (3625 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd). We will be buying out her cart for the day in honor of Andre Dupree Payton - just head to the cart and enjoy Portland’s best plates straight from Kee’s heart.
Andre is the reason Don’t Shoot Portland became a nonprofit - the lack of accountability and complicity surrounding his unsolved murder is a reality all too familiar to survivors of gun violence. Our best memories were grubbin’ down at the park with our family, running around the park and laughing under tall trees. We love and miss you Andre.
DSP founder and executive Director Teressa Raiford in 2013, meeting with then First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House in Washington, DC about gun violence. The photos in her hand are of her nephew, Andre.
This Saturday, September 26th, the Immigrant Refugee Community Organization’s event ‘Defend Build Be’ will happen via Zoom. The panel will feature a diverse selection of speakers exploring how we defend, build and be together during these challenging moments within our movements. Teressa Raiford will be participating on behalf of Don’t Shoot Portland. The recording will be made available through the IRCO website here.
Thank you for your tremendous and continued support - you have no idea how much it means to be able to sustain this work for our communities. Let’s continue to impact each other’s lives together. There’s a place for everyone in the revolution!
