State of Emergency for Portland Declared by Gov. Kate Brown

Tomorrow is the general election and regardless of the outcome, your continued commitment, action and morals are needed.

We must continue our fight for Black liberation and to dismantle the systems that have oppressed so many. As our city goes into a state of emergency as declared by Governor Kate Brown at 5pm PST, we remind you all to please be vigilant. Watch out for yourselves and each other.

Protect your lungs, eyes, mouth. Wear masks and respirators. Walk, don’t run.

Donate to street medics on the ground (Portland Action Medics are on Venmo at @Rosehip-medics). If you can, be prepared to physically and financially provide jail support (General Defense Committee is on Venmo/Cash app at @pdxgdc $pdxgdc).

On Thursday, a group of 80 former and current law enforcement officials, including eight attorneys general and the district attorney representing Portland, OR called for a judge to restrict the federal deployment of troops to U.S. cities, saying the "abusive" tactics unleashed during protests this year risks "lasting damage to the entire justice system."

Being able to pursue these class action lawsuits through the continued support from our communities is what makes this possible - thank you. The Guardian reached out to Don’t Shoot Portland ladt week for an interview as part of their latest article; Nearly 1,000 instances of police brutality recorded in US anti-racism protests.

We are so honored to be part of this years’ Give!Guide by Willamette Weekly. This is the first time our organization has been invited to showcase the work we do and we are grateful for the opportunity. We are hopeful that through this Give!Guide we can sustain our programming for many years to come. Please donate today!
